« OEILLÈRES ROUGES » : HERVÉ HASQUIN
INTELLECTUAL COMPLAINTS WITH TOTALITARY REGIMES OF THE LEFT.
EVENING HOSTED BY JOËL KOTEK , POLITOLOGIST, HISTORIAN.
The job of intellectuals, writes Paul Valéry in 1926, is to stir up all things under their signs, names or symbols, under the counterweight of real acts. The result is that their projects are astonishing, their politics dangerous, their pleasures superficial. These are the social stimulants with the advantages and dangers of the stimulants in general. « (Rhumbs)
What selective indignation among fellow travelers of communism and the far left, supposedly literate … Democracy, freedoms, human rights slung over the shoulder. Very well. Denounce Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Salazar, Greek colonels, Pinochet, Argentinian generals, Mobutu, etc., the list goes on. Perfect. But why these silences, at best modesty, at worst the justifications of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot and a few other lords of less importance, but no less harmful and repulsive? Holocaust denial is unbearable. It is not just about denying the Nazi genocidal enterprise. Its policy of extermination on a racial and political basis. There is not just one negationism. Unfortunately, the left also has its Faurisson. Denying or justifying crimes is unforgivable.
